A Double-Header The Polyphonic Spree w / special guest Mark Olson
Currently boasting 24 members, few bands can rival The Polyphonic Spree’s size, depth of instrumentation, and stage presence. Inspired by experimental rock bands of the 70s, Tim DeLaughter formed the band in 2000 with the aim of attracting a wide variety of musicians and performers. Getting more than he had hoped for, the band put together a demo (later issued as an album) titled The Beginning Stages of?the Polyphonic Spree, distributing it at various gigs in the U.S. and UK.
Mark Olson - has been destined to take the road less traveled, so it was hardly a coincidence that Mark found himself in rural Joshua Tree, California in 1996. After leaving a decade-long tenure with the successful band The Jayhawks, Olson embarked on a journey to release his own brand of independent music authentically Americana. With his wife singer/songwriter Victoria Williams and multi-instrumentalist Mike Russell, Olson created the trio The Original Harmony Ridge Creek Dippers in 1996.
His first true solo recording, Salvation Blues is both profoundly simple yet moving. Written during a solo tour of Europe in 2006, the deeply personal album features three tracks written by former Jayhawks band mate Gary Louris and one track co-written by ex-wife Williams. The album was released June 12, 2007 on HackTone Records.
